Swindon – Sport – Leisure Centres
Oasis is a great place for a family swim. The large pool is lagoon-shaped and starts off very shallow, only a couple of inches deep; it gradually deepends until it reaches a depth of about 1.8m. The bottom part of the pool is roped off so that non-swimmers don’t venture too far; this also means that the bottom part is good for swimming lengths.
There are lots of added extras at Oasis that make it really fun for children 9and adults!). There’s a really good wave machine that goes every 15 minutes or so, and is followed by a freezing water spray. There are three fast slides direct into the pool, three flumes that go into a separate slash pool and a further slide that goes all around the pool. There’s also a section for small children with a pirate ship and some small slides.
Sessions normally last an hour though occasionally, when it’s quiet, you get unlimited swim time. There are also special sessions for adults/disco night etc.
Away from the pool there’s a restaurant which serves reasonably okay food.
The outside of the building is a bit dated and shabby but don’t be put off, because Oasis is a real treat!
