Between 10th April 2010 and 5th January 2013 I attempted the 101 things in 1001 days challenge. I did reasonably well – I managed almost half the things – but I decided I wanted another go. The second list ran from 6th January 2013 to Sunday 4th October 2015 and I managed 37 of the things.
I’m now on my third try and it seems, with only a few months to go, every time I attempt this I complete fewer of the items! Maybe it’s because there’s less on there I genuinely want to do … maybe I’ve done most of what I want to do. Or maybe I’m being too ambitious and putting on dreams I can neither afford nor practically complete. Yet. maybe when I write the list for the fourth time I need to think about what I really want to do…
I used to document my list on this website but for the third attempt I’ve switched to Day Zero, so the base list is below but you can keep up with my progress over there: Go to Day Zero Project
More about the 101 things in 1001 days Challenge:
The Mission
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I am interested in Family History and have recently found out that I may have gypsy connections and I remember as a child seeing the commemoration stone for Rodney Smith in Epping Forest. I only lived a few houses away from this part of the forest and very often went for walks there with my Parents so I looked it up and came across your comments on your visit. The reason that it is only a little part of the forest is because the old North Circular Road used to run at the side of it until they built in1975, the new A406 cutting right through. I was also led to believe that Rodney Smith’s wife had the stone erected.
